The University of Illinois Football team is known as the Fighting Illini. The University of Illinois fields varsity teams in the NCAA's Division I and is a member of the Big Ten Conference. Illinois' athletic teams compete at the highest level, often contending for conference and NCAA titles. The football stadium on the Illinois campus is 70,904-seat Memorial Stadium, named after the men and women of Illinois who died serving our country in World War I and II. The Fighting Illini finished the 2007 football season with an impressive 9-4 record, including a trip to the Rose Bowl.
